Nats edge out Phillies

Phillies have one last shot tonight

The Philadelphia Phillies (60-72) had no answer for the Washington Nationals (77-55) Max Scherzer who pounded Phillies batters for eight innings, striking out 11 and leading his team to a 4-3 victory.  The Nationals have won 13 of their last 15 games at Citizens Bank Park.

“We need to improve our plate discipline. We’re just not getting hits,” Phillies manager Pete Mackanin said. “It plays into anybody’s strengths who can change speeds.”

“Being able to see him do what he does every five days he has Phillies 5an opportunity to go out there and throw a perfect game or a no-no,” Nats Bryce Harper said.  “That just goes to show how hard he works and how he goes about it. Lot of fun to watch, lot of fun to play behind, and just an absolute machine.”

The Phillies have the opportunity to get a win against them tonight at 6:05 at Citizens Bank Park when they send southpaw Adam Morgan (1-8, 6.50 ERA) to the mound tonight.  Starting for the Phillies will be southpaw Gio Gonzalez (9-9, 4,25 ERA).

Tickets for tonight’s game are still available as are for the upcoming four game stand against the Atlanta Braves.  Be sure to grab yours today and help cheer on your Philadelphia Phillies!
