Giants come calling on Phillies

Giants take on Phillies

The match up between the hot San Francisco Giants (61-44, 1st NL West) and your Philadelphia Phillies (48-59 4th NL East) would normally be just another run through for the Giants, but last time out, and with Madison Bumgarner back on the mound, anything can happen.

Bumgarner allowed three runs in a 3-2 loss to the Phillies at AT&T Park on June 25th.  Bumgarner will be going up against Phillies RHP Zach Elfin (3-4, 4.23 ERA) pitched a shutout on July 22nd against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Tickets for the series are still available so be sure to grab yours and get out to see what should be a pretty good series.

D-Backs look to sweep Phillies

The Arizona Diamondbacks (32-39, 4th NL West) came alive against the Philadelphia Phillies (30-40, 4th NL East)  yesterday as Archie Bradley got his first win for the Diamondbacks since may, allowing only one unearned run over six innings in a 5-1 win.  They will look to go for the sweep today at 12:05.

“Not a whole lot to be happy about except for (Zach) Eflin,” Phillies manager Pete Mackanin said. “It was a good confidence booster for him, as well as the team. We were in the game until the ninth inning, so that’s a step in the right direction. However, the three hits, once again is our bane.”

Elfin pitched five and a half innings allowing only two Diamondbacks runs.

Game four kicks off today at noon.  Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so be sure to grab yours today and help cheer on your Philadelphia Phillies to victory!

Jays score heavy against Rookie Eflin in his first start

DON’T FORGET TO VOTE FOR YOUR PHILLY ALL STARS

The Phillies 2012 first round draft pick, Zach Eflin, got his first start last night and it was a night he would rather forget as the Blue Jays. Eflin pitched just 2.2 innings but gave up nine hits and nine runs.

“You’ve got to forget about it,” Eflin said of his first ML start. “Obviously, I’ll remember it for the rest of my life, but from a pitching standpoint, I’ve got to bounce back. I’ve got to throw quality strikes and get ahead of the hitters.”
